General Duty Assistant

Job Summary

• A General Duty Assistant (GDA) supports doctors, nurses, and other healthcare staff in providing basic patient care.
• They help maintain hygiene, comfort, and safety for patients in hospitals, clinics, or healthcare centers.

Key Responsibilities :

• Patient Care Support independent and critical patients, including all ICU patients, responsible for complete patient care.
• This includes sponging, oral care, bathing, stool cleaning, assistance in urination, diaper changing, and other basic nursing support activities as required.
• Help patients move (bed to wheelchair, stretcher, etc.)
• Feed patients who are unable to eat independently.
• Change bed linens and maintain cleanliness.

Ward & Hygiene Maintenance:

• Ensure cleanliness of patient rooms and hospital areas.
• Dispose of medical waste safely.
• Maintain infection control practices.

Monitoring & Assistance:

• Report patient condition changes to nurses or doctors.
• Assist during medical examinations or procedures.

Transport & Support:

• Transport patients for tests, surgeries, or discharge.
• Deliver reports, medicines, and samples between departments.

Required Skills: 

• Basic knowledge of patient care , Good communication skills, Compassionate and patient nature, Physical stamina, Ability to follow instructions.

Educational Qualification:

• Minimum: 10th / 12th pass • Certification in General Duty Assistant course (preferred).
• Basic first aid knowledge.

Work Environment:

• Hospitals, Nursing homes, Clinics, Rehabilitation centers, Home healthcare services.
