Duties & Responsibilities:-

 Supervising the nursing care of Patient

• Admission and discharge of patients.
• Efficient nursing care: personal comfort of patients, administration of drugs and treatment, observation and recording.
• Patient’s Diet.
• Assistance to medical staff in examination of patients and treatment.
• Supervision of clinical investigations, pre-operative and post-operative care.
• Maintenance of patient’s records.
• Care of patient’s personal effects in accordance with hospital rules.
• Following of prescribed rules regarding accident or death of a patient.
• Giving and receiving reports.
• Information to relative and friends.
• Intimation to chief of Nursing of any special occurrence in the ward.

Supervision of Ward Staff

• Assignment of work and arrangement by checking attendance of nursing staff.
• ·       Coordinating and facilitating work of other staff, e.g., physiotherapists.

·       On job training.

·       Orientation of new staff.

·       Maintaining good relationships among all categories of staff and with patients and their relatives.

·       Discipline of nursing and reporting on absence of staff.

·       Confidential Reports.
