Description
- Diagnosing various cancers and staging the disease through clinical evaluation and diagnostic tests.
- Performing surgical procedures to remove tumors, cancerous tissues, and affected organs (e.g., breast, colon, liver, or lung cancer).
- Developing personalized treatment plans in collaboration with other oncology specialists, such as medical oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists.
- Assessing and managing patients before, during, and after surgery, ensuring optimal recovery and outcomes.
- Performing minimally invasive procedures (e.g., laparoscopy) when possible to reduce recovery time and minimize patient discomfort.
- Providing counseling and education to patients and their families regarding surgical options, treatment plans, and recovery expectations.
- Monitoring patients post-surgery for complications, infections, and the effectiveness of treatment.
- Collaborating in multidisciplinary tumor boards to discuss complex cancer cases and treatment strategies.
- Conducting follow-up care, including regular exams, scans, and tests, to monitor for cancer recurrence.
- Engaging in research and staying updated on advances in surgical oncology techniques, technology, and treatment modalities.
