Description

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients admitted to the HDU, including monitoring vital signs, assessing neurological status, and evaluating respiratory and cardiovascular function. Monitor patients' responses to treatment and interventions and identify changes in condition that may require immediate attention.
Provide specialized nursing care to patients in the HDU, including administering medications, titrating oxygen therapy, managing invasive lines and drains, and performing complex wound care procedures. Monitor patients' fluid and electrolyte balance, nutritional status, and pain levels, and intervene as necessary to optimize patient outcomes.
Work collaboratively with physicians, respiratory therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans for patients in the HDU. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, care conferences, and case reviews to discuss patient progress and plan appropriate interventions.
Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide advanced life support interventions to stabilize patients in critical condition. Perform rapid assessments, initiate emergency interventions, and coordinate transfer to the intensive care unit (ICU) or other specialized areas as needed.
Provide education, support, and counseling to patients and their families regarding their condition, treatment plan, and self-care strategies. Teach patients and family members about medication management, symptom recognition, and follow-up care to promote patient safety and continuity of care upon discharge.
