Description
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients scheduled for cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.
- Educate patients and their families about the surgical process, risks, and post-operative care instructions.
- Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery, ensuring all pre-operative protocols are followed.
- Assist surgeons during cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, including open-heart surgeries, bypass surgeries, valve replacements, and thoracotomies.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and provide medications or interventions as necessary during surgery.
- Monitor patients closely in the immediate post-operative period, assessing vital signs, pain levels, and surgical site conditions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and assist with wound care and management.
- Evaluate patient responses to treatments and interventions, and initiate appropriate nursing actions.
- Provide comprehensive discharge instructions to patients and their families, including medication management, activity restrictions, and signs of complications.
- Offer emotional support and guidance throughout the recovery process.
