Description

Provide specialized nursing care to pediatric patients admitted to the PICU, including those with complex medical conditions, congenital anomalies, and post-operative care needs.
Perform comprehensive assessments, monitor vital signs, manage respiratory support, administer medications, and coordinate treatments and interventions as prescribed by pediatric intensivists.
Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff within the PICU, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.
Supervise and coordinate nursing care delivery, ensuring adherence to PICU standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
Mentor and support staff in the development of clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and family-centered care practices.
Collaborate with parents and caregivers to provide family-centered care, involving them in the care process, providing education and support, and facilitating family presence and participation in decision-making.
Serve as a resource and advocate for families, addressing their concerns, providing emotional support, and facilitating communication with healthcare providers.
Collaborate effectively with pediatric intensivists, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, nutritionists, social workers, and other healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for PICU patients.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds, care conferences, and discharge planning meetings to discuss patient progress, develop care plans, and coordinate transition of care.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities within the PICU, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and clinical outcomes.
