Description
- Provide urgent and emergent care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department (ED) with various medical conditions, injuries, and traumas.
- Perform rapid and accurate patient assessments, triage patients based on acuity levels, and prioritize care to ensure timely intervention for critically ill or injured patients.
- Provide leadership and direction to nursing staff within the Emergency Department, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.
- Supervise and coordinate nursing care delivery, ensuring adherence to standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
- Mentor and support staff in the development of clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and professional growth.
- Perform emergency procedures commonly performed in the ED, such as intubation, central line placement, chest tube insertion, and rapid sequence induction, following established protocols and guidelines.
- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers in performing emergent interventions and procedures as needed.
- Administer medications intravenously, intramuscularly, and through other routes as prescribed, ensuring accurate dosing, compatibility, and patient safety.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions to medications and intervene promptly as needed.
- Advocate for patients' rights, preferences, and needs, ensuring their voices are heard and respected throughout their ED visit.
