Description

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients admitted to the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Intensive Care Unit (CVTS ICU), including assessment, monitoring, intervention, and evaluation of patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient assessments, surgical procedures, and clinical protocols.
  • Monitor patients closely for changes in condition, managing post-operative complications, and implementing evidence-based interventions to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to nursing staff within the CVTS ICU, including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nursing Assistants.
  • Supervise and coordinate nursing care delivery, ensuring adherence to established standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
  • Mentor and support staff in the development of clinical skills, critical thinking abilities, and professional growth.
  • Advocate for patients and their families, ensuring their needs, preferences, and concerns are addressed throughout their stay in the CVTS ICU.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team, facilitating communication and collaboration to promote a positive patient experience.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and activities within the CVTS ICU, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and clinical outcomes.
  • Participate in data collection, analysis, and reporting related to patient outcomes, adverse events, and performance indicators.
