Description
- Supervise and assist in the procurement of eye tissues from donors, ensuring all protocols and regulations are followed for tissue collection.
- Coordinate with hospitals, medical teams, and donation coordinators for the timely collection of eyes from donors, both in deceased and living donor cases.
- Ensure the transportation of donor eyes to the Eye Bank is efficient and within the required timeframe.
- Perform thorough eye tissue evaluation to determine suitability for transplantation, including corneal assessment and screening for infectious diseases.
- Process and preserve eye tissues according to established guidelines to maintain their viability for transplant surgery.
- Maintain proper documentation of all processing activities, including donor details, tissue evaluation results, and preservation conditions.
- Ensure proper storage and timely distribution of processed eye tissues to hospitals, transplant centers, and surgeons.
- Liaise with surgeons and ophthalmologists to understand their requirements and facilitate the preparation of eye tissue for specific transplant needs.
- Maintain records of distributed tissues and track their outcomes.
