Description

  • Explaining sonographic procedures to patients, answering questions, preparing patients by applying the gel to the skin, and positioning the patients on the table.
  • Ensuring clear images for diagnostic purposes and making adjustments to the sonographic equipment when necessary.
  • Selecting the appropriate settings and adjusting the patients' positions accordingly.
  • Monitoring and caring for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures.
  • Selecting and examining images, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determining if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings.
  • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures by explaining the process, addressing any concerns, and ensuring they are positioned correctly for optimal imaging.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain ultrasound machines, ensuring they are calibrated and functioning properly, and troubleshoot any technical issues that may arise.
  • Image Acquisition: Perform ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and vascular studies, according to established protocols and physician orders.
  • Patient Safety: Adhere to safety protocols to ensure the well-being of patients during procedures, including ensuring comfort and minimizing exposure to unnecessary risks.
  • Image Evaluation: Review ultrasound images for quality and completeness, ensuring that they meet diagnostic standards, and communicate any technical issues to the supervising radiologist.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of ultrasound procedures, patient histories, and findings, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.
  • Collaboration with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicians, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care and facilitate the interpretation of ultrasound results.
  • Continuing Education: Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with advancements in ultrasound technology, imaging techniques, and best practices in patient care.
