Description
Responsibilities are as follows:
1. Specimen identification & labeling.
2. Cross checking with prescription & supporting documents against sample container label & type of specimen.
3. If found miss match between documents & specimen it is spontaneously comes & necessary to solve the problem then we contact concern parson & Ref. Dr.
4. After checking above all are ok for sample processing condition., then put a unique number in the specimen as per our lab register entry.
5. change the specimen into another container & add NBF solution at the same time and give the specimen incision as per necessary and as per specimen type. It necessary for better fixation / processing / section cutting.
6. Next gross the specimen routinely. In case of complex specimen pathologist will help to do that.
7. Grossed specimen processed by Automatic tissue processor for over night.
8. After chemical processing all specimens necessary to embedding. It is required adequate time depending on the specimens / number of blocks. As per present work load fine required for this purpose 2 to 2.5 hour averagely.
9. trimming & final section done.
10. After section cutting - fixing - staining - mounting - labeling it is a lengthy and time taking process. If required special stain also perform as per necessary.
11. After ready all the slides sent to the pathologist for reporting compare / matching with appropriate documents for each cases.
12. After microscopic examination & reporting, typed & verified / certified copy receive the work-sheet for dispatch of slide. Slides (if required for exceptional cases) & papers are stored for 10 years. At the same time patient details copy & reporting sheets preserved in the file.
13. After reporting by the pathologist, copy & note down the report into lab register respectively. Document correlation file & many other files are as per requirement.
14. Attend for re-grossing with Pathologist as per requirement.
15. Maintain all files, documents, change of reagents stains, slides & Blocks filing for regular basis.
16. Attend phone call, any relevant document required from patient party or inform any matter to concern persons for each center communicate over phone regularly.
17. specimen preservation & discard as per our Histopath Dept. protocol.
18. Periodic checking for reagent label and update the same.
19. Hand over the works and information to another departmental staff.
20. CAP PT, EQAS surveys / handling as per necessary.
21. PT evaluation.
