Description

  • The Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist provides expert care in diagnosing, treating, and managing diseases and conditions of the eye.
  • This role involves performing surgical procedures, offering medical management for eye diseases, leading clinical teams, and mentoring junior medical staff.
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, and other ocular pathologies.
  • Perform advanced surgical procedures such as cataract extraction, corneal transplants, retinal detachment repairs, and laser surgeries.
  • Prescribe medications, corrective lenses, and other therapies to manage eye conditions.
  • Conduct preoperative evaluations, surgical planning, and postoperative care.
  • Manage complex surgical cases and emergencies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
  • Lead and oversee the clinical work of junior ophthalmologists, residents, and medical staff.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and continuous professional development to the ophthalmology team.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case discussions, and hospital committees.
  • Engage in clinical research activities, contribute to publications, and participate in conferences and seminars.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs for medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care and safety in line with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of clinical guidelines and protocols.
  • Conduct audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with hospital management on service planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage in community outreach and public health initiatives related to eye care.
