Description

Prepare the operating room for orthopedic surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily available.
Assist in positioning and draping patients for orthopedic surgeries, ensuring proper alignment and access to the surgical site while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist surgeons by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and performing other tasks as directed during orthopedic procedures.
Handle orthopedic implants, prostheses, and devices according to established protocols, ensuring proper identification, storage, and documentation.
Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control practices to minimize the risk of surgical site infections.
Monitor surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures, assisting with instrument counts and ensuring proper handling and disposal of surgical specimens.
Collaborate effectively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical assistants, and perioperative personnel, to ensure smooth and efficient workflow during procedures.
Respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies, following established protocols and assisting in the implementation of emergency interventions to stabilize the patient.
Document intraoperative events, instrument counts, implant usage, and any deviations from the surgical plan accurately and comprehensively in the electronic medical record or surgical log.
Provide postoperative care and support to patients as they transition from the operating room to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), assisting with patient transfer and handover as needed.
