Description

Prepare the operating room for gynecological surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterile and readily available.
Assist in positioning and draping patients for gynecological surgeries, ensuring proper exposure and access to the surgical site while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and assist gynecologists by passing instruments, holding retractors, suctioning, and performing other tasks as directed during gynecological procedures.
Handle surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols, ensuring proper identification, storage, and documentation.
Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure, adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control practices to minimize the risk of surgical site infections.
Monitor surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures, assisting with instrument counts and ensuring proper handling and disposal of surgical specimens.
Collaborate effectively with the surgical team, including gynecologists, anesthesiologists, surgical assistants, and perioperative personnel, to ensure smooth and efficient workflow during procedures.
Respond promptly to intraoperative emergencies, following established protocols and assisting in the implementation of emergency interventions to stabilize the patient.
Document intraoperative events, instrument counts, specimen handling, and any deviations from the surgical plan accurately and comprehensively in the electronic medical record or surgical log.
Provide postoperative care and support to patients as they transition from the operating room to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), assisting with patient transfer and handover as needed.
