Description

Prepare the OR for CVTS procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are sterilized, organized, and readily available.
Provide direct assistance to cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons during procedures, including passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team.
Demonstrate proficiency in the use and handling of specialized CVTS instruments and equipment, such as cardiac bypass machines, heart-lung bypass systems, and thoracic surgical instruments.
Adhere to strict aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to maintain a sterile environment throughout CVTS procedures, minimizing the risk of surgical site infections.
Assist in positioning patients, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during CVTS surgeries, providing support and reassurance to patients and their families.
Work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and other members of the surgical team to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care.
Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies or unexpected events during CVTS procedures, implementing appropriate interventions to support patient stability and well-being.
Accurately document all aspects of CVTS procedures, including instrument counts, patient information, and any relevant observations or interventions, in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Stay updated on advances in CVTS techniques, technologies, and best practices through ongoing education, training, and participation in professional development activities.
