Description

  • Provide expert medical care to newborn infants in the NICU, including premature babies and those with congenital anomalies or other medical complications.
  • Perform neonatal assessments, diagnoses, and treatment interventions, including resuscitation and stabilization of critically ill newborns.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies to guide treatment decisions.
  • Manage and coordinate the care of neonates with multidisciplinary teams, including neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialists.
  • Monitor neonates' progress and response to treatment, adjusting care plans as necessary.
  • Provide developmental support and follow-up care for high-risk infants after discharge from the NICU.
  • Establish rapport and trust with parents and families of newborns, providing compassionate support and clear communication throughout their baby's hospitalization.
  • Educate parents about their baby's medical condition, treatment options, and potential outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to address the psychosocial needs of families and facilitate family-centered care.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and transitional care for neonates leaving the NICU, ensuring continuity of care and appropriate follow-up services.
