Description

Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures to collect blood specimens from patients of all ages, following established protocols and safety guidelines.
Verify patient identities, confirm test orders, and explain blood collection procedures to patients, ensuring informed consent and addressing any questions or concerns.
Prepare blood collection equipment, including needles, tubes, tourniquets, and alcohol swabs, and maintain cleanliness and sterility of equipment and work areas.
Properly label blood collection tubes with patient information, specimen type, and collection date, ensuring accuracy and compliance with laboratory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of blood collections, including patient information, specimen details, and test requisition forms, using electronic health record (EHR) systems or manual documentation methods.
Transport blood specimens to the laboratory for processing, ensuring timely delivery and proper handling to preserve sample integrity and prevent contamination.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions during and after blood collection procedures, providing prompt assistance and reporting any complications to healthcare providers.
Assist in maintaining inventory of blood collection supplies, ordering supplies as needed, and ensuring adequate stock levels to support patient care activities.
