Description

Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture procedures to collect blood samples from patients of all ages, following established protocols and safety standards.
Verify patient identity, confirm the correct tests ordered by healthcare providers, and ensure accurate labeling of blood specimens to prevent errors and ensure patient safety.
Communicate effectively with patients to explain the phlebotomy procedure, alleviate fears or concerns, and ensure their comfort throughout the blood collection process.
Properly handle and process blood specimens, including labeling, centrifugation, and preparation for transport to the laboratory, following standard operating procedures and infection control guidelines.
Maintain cleanliness and proper functioning of phlebotomy equipment, including needles, syringes, blood collection tubes, and centrifuges, and perform routine maintenance and calibration as needed.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of blood samples by following quality control procedures, monitoring specimen quality, and promptly reporting any deviations or discrepancies to laboratory supervisors.
