Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense medicines against valid prescriptions.
  • Verify right patient, drug, dose, quantity, route, and duration.
  • Ensure proper labelling, billing, and documentation.
  • Clarify prescription-related doubts with doctors/in-charge.
  • Process indents and maintain emergency/crash-cart stock.
  • Coordinate with nursing staff and OT for medicine availability.
  • Manage inventory using FIFO/FEFO methods.
  • Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
  • Segregate near-expiry and expired medicines.
  • Enter all transactions accurately in HMS/software.
  • Coordinate with billing for proper charge capture.
  • Handle returns and stock adjustments.
  • Follow NABH standards and safety protocols.
  • Maintain proper storage of temperature-sensitive and LASA drugs.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and hospital staff.
  • Escalate issues like stock-outs, errors, or discrepancies.
  • Maintain required registers (narcotics, Schedule H1, temperature logs).
  • Ensure all records are updated and audit-ready.
