Description

Receive and catalog biological samples (tissues, cells, fluids) from surgeries, biopsies, and autopsies.
Prepare tissue samples for microscopic examination by cutting thin sections using microtomes.
Stain and mount tissue samples on slides to highlight structures and abnormalities.
Follow standardized procedures for sample fixation, dehydration, embedding, and staining.
Perform a variety of laboratory tests on tissue samples to detect abnormal cells or microorganisms.
Operate specialized laboratory equipment, such as microscopes, centrifuges, and staining machines.
Assist pathologists by preparing slides and specimens for diagnosis.
Handle cytological samples, including Pap smears and fine-needle aspirations, and prepare them for analysis.
Ensure that all laboratory equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and functioning efficiently.
Monitor the quality of reagents, stains, and chemicals used in tissue processing.
Implement and adhere to quality control procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
Document and report any malfunctions, errors, or inconsistencies in lab equipment or testing processes.
