Description

  • Perform gross and microscopic examinations of surgical pathology specimens, cytology samples, and autopsy tissues to diagnose diseases, identify abnormalities, and provide accurate clinical interpretations.
  • Interpret histopathological findings, immunohistochemical stains, special stains, and molecular tests to classify tumors, determine tumor grade and stage, and guide treatment decisions.
  • Review cytology smears, fine needle aspiration (FNA) specimens, and body fluid samples (e.g., blood, urine, cerebrospinal fluid) to diagnose infections, inflammatory conditions, and neoplastic processes.
  • Provide consultation services to clinicians, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and other healthcare providers on the interpretation of pathology results, correlation with clinical findings, and implications for patient management.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, case conferences, and patient care meetings to discuss complex cases, develop treatment plans, and optimize patient care pathways.
  • Perform autopsies to determine cause of death, identify disease processes, and provide insights into clinical management, forensic investigations, and medical education.
  • Coordinate quality assurance and quality improvement activities within the pathology laboratory, including proficiency testing, external quality assessment programs, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, including histotechnologists, cytotechnologists, laboratory technicians, and administrative personnel, to ensure efficient workflow, specimen handling, and laboratory operations.
