Description

  • Assist urologists during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including cystoscopies, urodynamic studies, prostate biopsies, and ureteroscopy.
  • Prepare and organize equipment, instruments, and supplies for urological procedures, ensuring proper setup and sterilization.
  • Perform urinary catheterization procedures, including insertion, maintenance, and removal of indwelling catheters, suprapubic catheters, and intermittent catheterization.
  • Monitor urinary output, catheter patency, and signs of infection or complications related to catheterization.
  • Perform bladder irrigation procedures to clear clots, debris, or blood from the bladder following cystoscopic procedures or in cases of hematuria, under the direction of urologists or nurses.
  • Monitor irrigation flow rates, patient comfort, and bladder distension during the procedure.
  • Assist with uroflowmetry testing procedures to measure urinary flow rates and patterns in patients with voiding dysfunction or urinary retention.
  • Ensure accurate collection of urine samples, proper calibration of uroflowmetry equipment, and timely recording of test results.
  • Provide stoma care for patients with urostomies, ileal conduits, and other urinary diversions, including assessment, cleaning, and application of pouching systems.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on stoma care techniques, appliance management, and prevention of complications.
