Description

  • Assist in the care of patients with orthopedic conditions, including fractures, sprains, strains, and postoperative cases.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, surgeries, and examinations by assisting with positioning, prepping surgical sites, and providing emotional support.
  • Perform orthopedic assessments, including range of motion testing, neurovascular assessments, and wound assessments under the direction of orthopedic surgeons or nurses.
  • Assist orthopedic surgeons during procedures and surgeries by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Set up and maintain orthopedic equipment and instruments, including traction devices, external fixation devices, and orthopedic power tools.
  • Prepare and apply casts, splints, braces, and other orthopedic devices to immobilize and support injured or fractured bones.
  • Provide patient education on orthopedic conditions, treatment options, and postoperative care instructions.
  • Instruct patients and their families on the proper use of orthopedic devices, mobility aids, and assistive devices.
  • Perform wound care and dressing changes for orthopedic surgical incisions and traumatic injuries, ensuring proper wound healing and infection control.
  • Monitor wounds for signs of infection, complications, or delayed healing and report findings to healthcare providers.
