Description

Prepare and set up the operating room before surgical procedures, including arranging surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to the surgical team's requirements.
Assist surgeons and perioperative nurses during surgical procedures by passing instruments, sponges, and sutures, and anticipating their needs throughout the procedure.
Ensure the sterile integrity of the operating room environment by maintaining aseptic technique, sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment, and adhering to infection control protocols.
Assist with patient positioning on the operating table and applying sterile drapes to ensure optimal exposure of the surgical site while maintaining patient comfort and safety.
Monitor and maintain surgical equipment and instrumentation, including troubleshooting issues, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging for repairs or replacements as needed.
Assist with patient transport to and from the operating room, ensuring proper identification, verification, and transfer of patients in accordance with established protocols.
Prepare and transport specimens for laboratory analysis as directed by the surgical team, ensuring accurate labeling, documentation, and handling of specimens according to regulatory requirements.
Participate in surgical team debriefings and quality improvement initiatives to identify opportunities for process improvement, enhance patient safety, and optimize surgical outcomes.
Provide support and assistance to other members of the surgical team, including anesthesiologists, surgical assistants, and surgical residents, as needed during surgical procedures.
