Description
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating, as directed by the occupational therapist.
- Provide physical assistance and emotional support to patients during therapy sessions to maximize their participation and engagement in therapeutic activities.
- Prepare therapy rooms and equipment for occupational therapy sessions, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and availability of necessary supplies and materials.
- Assist in the setup and implementation of therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities prescribed by the occupational therapist to address patients' functional goals and treatment plans.
- Assist patients with mobility exercises, transfers, and positioning manoeuvres, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Provide guidance and encouragement to patients during mobility training and practice sessions to promote independence and confidence in functional mobility skills.
- Assist patients in using assistive devices and adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs, walkers, splints, and adaptive utensils, to support their independence and facilitate participation in daily activities.
- Educate patients and caregivers on proper use, care, and maintenance of assistive devices and equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.
