Description

Set up and prepare the operating theatre for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and in working order. Assist with assembling surgical trays, organizing sterile supplies, and arranging equipment according to surgical specialty and procedural requirements.
Maintain strict adherence to sterile technique and surgical asepsis throughout the perioperative process. Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment, drape patients and surgical fields, and maintain the integrity of the sterile field during procedures to prevent surgical site infections.
Assist with handling and passing surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and surgical team members during procedures. Anticipate surgeons' needs, maintain instrument counts, and ensure proper functioning and availability of surgical tools and devices.
Operate and maintain surgical equipment and machinery used in the operating theatre, including anesthesia machines, surgical lights, suction devices, and electrocautery units. Perform routine equipment checks, troubleshoot technical issues, and assist with equipment setup and calibration as needed.
Assist with positioning and preparing patients for surgery, including transferring patients to the operating table, securing them in the appropriate position, and prepping the surgical site according to established protocols. Ensure patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality throughout the perioperative process.
