Anesthetic phase :during this phase the theatre nurse will assist the patient prior to surgery and provide holistic care.
Work effectively within the team, help anaesthetist and monitor the patient.
Surgical phase: Theatre nurses will participate as part of the operating team ,in a number of roles including the scrubbed role, application of aseptic technique, wound management and infection control.
During this phase: scrubbing the hands, sterile gowning, gloving and preparation of instruments as per the surgery .To arrange the necessary machinery including microscopes ,lasers and endoscopes.
Work along the surgeon, providing instruments, needles, swabs and other materials as required and to able to anticipate their requirements.
Have a role in the promotion of health and safety and be responsible for ensuring that the surgical instruments ,equipment and swabs are all accounted for throughout the surgical procedures.
To make sure the safety checklist is completed before closing the surgery.
To adhere to the sterility all through the surgery.
