Description

An Optometrist Technician, also known as an Optometric Technician, plays a vital role in eye care.
They assist optometrists with various tasks, including performing preliminary eye tests, preparing patients for exams, and educating patients about vision care.
They also manage patient records, schedule appointments, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the exam rooms.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Assistance:
Preparing patients for eye exams, gathering medical history, and answering patient questions.
Testing:
Performing preliminary eye tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception tests.
Equipment Management:
Preparing and maintaining optometry equipment, including cleaning and calibrating it.
Record Keeping:
Updating patient records, managing appointment scheduling, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Patient Education:
Educating patients on proper contact lens and eyewear care, as well as providing instructions for post-examination care.
Laboratory Assistance:
Assisting with the creation of lenses, frame selection, and minor repairs on eyeglasses.
Additional Duties:
Assisting with billing procedures, insurance claims, and maintaining a clean and sanitary clinical environment.

Qualifications:
Formal Training: Completion of a formal optometric technician training program.
Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
Knowledge: Basic knowledge of eye anatomy and physiology, and proficiency in using ophthalmic instruments and equipment.
