Description

Vision Testing and Assessment: Conduct comprehensive eye examinations to assess patients' visual acuity, eye health, and diagnose vision problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Prescribing Corrective Lenses: Prescribe eyeglasses, contact lenses, or other visual aids based on the results of eye exams and patients’ individual vision needs.
Eye Health Diagnosis: Diagnose and treat conditions related to eye health, including glaucoma, cataracts, retinal disorders, and infections, or refer patients to ophthalmologists for more advanced care.
Patient Education: Educate patients about proper eye care, preventive measures, and how to manage vision problems, including the correct use of contact lenses or eyeglasses.
Specialized Testing: Perform specialized testing such as visual field tests, retinal imaging, or optical coherence tomography (OCT) to detect abnormalities or track changes in eye health.
Patient Records Management: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, documenting medical histories, test results, prescriptions, and treatment plans in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Collaboration with Healthcare Providers: Work closely with ophthalmologists, opticians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive eye care and coordinate treatment for patients with complex conditions.
Continuing Education: Stay updated with advancements in optometry and eye care technologies by participating in ongoing professional development, attending workshops, and obtaining relevant certifications.
