Description
- Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, refraction, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, and fundoscopy, to assess ocular health and identify eye conditions and diseases.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions and diseases, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, refractive errors, and ocular surface diseases.
- Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies, such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), fluorescein angiography, ultrasound, and visual field testing, to aid in the diagnosis and monitoring of eye diseases.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for patients based on diagnostic findings, medical history, and patient preferences, incorporating medical management, surgical intervention, and adjunctive therapies as appropriate.
- Perform ophthalmic surgical procedures, including cataract surgery, laser-assisted refractive surgery (LASIK), corneal transplantation, retinal surgery, glaucoma surgery, and oculoplastic procedures, with proficiency and attention to patient safety.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients, including counseling, informed consent, surgical planning, and follow-up examinations to monitor surgical outcomes and ensure optimal visual outcomes.
- Prescribe and manage medications, therapeutic agents, and ocular devices to treat eye conditions and diseases, and monitor treatment efficacy and side effects.
- Educate patients and their families about eye health, disease prevention, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications to promote ocular wellness and vision preservation.
