Description
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity testing, refraction, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, tonometry, fundoscopy, and ophthalmic imaging, to diagnose and monitor ophthalmic conditions and diseases.
- Evaluate and manage patients with a variety of eye conditions, such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, corneal diseases, and refractive errors.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients, incorporating medical, surgical, and nonsurgical interventions based on clinical findings, patient preferences, and evidence-based practice guidelines.
- Perform ophthalmic surgeries, including cataract extraction, LASIK, PRK, corneal transplantation, vitrectomy, retinal detachment repair, and oculoplastic procedures, with precision and expertise.
- Provide preoperative and postoperative care to surgical patients, including counseling, informed consent, surgical scheduling, and follow-up examinations to ensure optimal surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
- Educate patients and families about eye health, preventive measures, treatment options, and postoperative care instructions to empower them to actively participate in their eye care.
- Collaborate with optometrists, primary care physicians, other specialists, and healthcare team members to provide coordinated and comprehensive care for patients with complex medical conditions.
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, safety, and clinical outcomes within the ophthalmology department.
