Description

Review outpatient encounter forms, medical documentation, and treatment records to accurately assign diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
Enter patient demographic information, insurance details, procedure codes, and other billing-related data into the electronic medical record (EMR) system or billing software platform.
Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, eligibility, and preauthorization requirements to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for outpatient services.
Process outpatient insurance claims, including electronic and paper submissions, and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement from third-party payers.
Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, coding errors, and claim denials by conducting thorough research, communicating with insurance companies, and appealing denials as needed.
Post payments and adjustments to patient accounts accurately, reconcile accounts receivable balances, and perform account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding billing inquiries, payment arrangements, insurance disputes, and financial assistance programs, resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, clinical staff, and revenue cycle team members to identify opportunities for process improvement, streamline billing workflows, and optimize revenue cycle performance.
Maintain compliance with billing regulations, coding guidelines, and HIPAA privacy requirements, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of patient information and billing records.
