Description
- Review and process outpatient billing claims accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, payer requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits prior to services rendered, and obtain necessary authorizations or referrals as needed.
- Enter patient demographic and insurance information into the billing system accurately, including insurance verification, pre-authorization details, and patient billing preferences.
- Submit electronic claims to insurance companies and government payers promptly, monitor claim status, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Review billing reports and aging accounts receivable to identify unpaid claims, billing errors, and discrepancies, and take appropriate action to resolve issues and optimize revenue collection.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statements, insurance coverage, and payment options, and provide assistance in resolving billing-related issues and disputes.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, clinical staff, and other billing specialists to address coding discrepancies, documentation issues, and billing inquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Stay updated with changes in healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure compliance and accuracy in outpatient billing processes.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations and ethical standards in handling sensitive patient data.
