Nursing Tutor

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Work with the Assistant Dean, Academic Success, peer-tutor program.
• Meet regularly with students to provide information and support as they progress through the nursing program and prepare.
• Provide guidance individually or in groups, in preparation for the standardized final exams, specialty exams, the exit exam.
• Tutor students in the content area as well as in test-taking skills.
• Interpret test results with students, counsel and assess learning problems and develop individual student remediation plans.
• Maintain documentation on student remediation plans, processes, and success.
• Demonstrate current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of exit examinations as well as current knowledge in the field to provide academic support.
• Develop reports as required.
• Support the Assistant Dean in securing and coordinating proctors for all course examinations.
• Support the Assistant Dean in analyzing student academic data for research and assessment purposes.
• Demonstrate current, detailed, and accurate knowledge of college programs and accurately communicate academic policies and regulations to students.
• Coordinate standardized testing, including the ordering of and distributing of materials, overseeing exams, and evaluating the effectiveness of the testing center.
• Work with the Assistant Dean to implement the Student Academic Success (SAS) Program for students and to coordinate elements of the SAS Program with faculty and staff.
• Participate in professional organizations as appropriate and serve on College committees as assigned.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
