Description

1] SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS:

  • Taking rounds of Wards, ICUs, Accident and Emergency, Day Care Units and OBG department in each shift.
  • Supervisor guides and instructs professional nursing personnel in providing high quality services including accurate documentation.
  • Ensures patient safety and quality working environment for the staff.
  • Supervises the grooming, punctuality and soft skills of the nursing staff and HCAs on duty.
  • Ensures the appropriate nurse patient ratio in the departments.
  • Ensures the professional etiquettes followed by private nurses in the hospital.
  • Ensures the implementation of the hospital policies and protocols.
  • Meeting the VIP/ HWC/ DNR patients personally in each shift.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction with hospital services.
  • Implements and interprets organizational policies and procedures and nursing standards and regulations as an administrator on duty in their absence.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves administrative problems by direct intervention or by notification of appropriate personnel.


2] CRISIS MANAGEMENT:

  • Handling customer grievances.
  • Attending code blue and stroke code and coordinating between the departments for smooth flow of events.
  • Coordinating nursing and HCA coverage during man power crisis.
  • Handling issues related to delay in pharmacy, billing, pathology and diet services.
  • Handling issues related to unavailability of hospital equipments and services.
  • Managing availability of critical beds when there are no vacant beds in adult ICU.
  • Acts as a leader and coordinator during disaster management in AandE department.


3] COORDINATION:

  • Arranging private nurses, ward boys and ayahs and maintaining their records.
  • Making Huntleigh and KCI products available for the patients and maintaining their records.
  • Helping the admission desk in coordinating and allocating the vacant beds according to the availability when asked for assistance by admission desk.
  • Coordinating for organ donation.
  • Mortuary management
  • Checking Death Certificate and handing over the body to next of kin. Accompanying the body to the mortuary or at the time of releasing the body.
  • Arranging undertakers as per the relatives request.
  • Coordinating emergency procedures in cath lab, OT, endoscopy and dialysis department, arranging transportation of nursing personnel to the hospital.
  • Coordinating for fogging procedures.
  • Accompanying the VIP patient on admission and OPD procedures in the hospital.


4] COMMUNICATION and MOTIVATION:

  • Implementing new policies.
  • Ensuring the availability of on call list of consultants and JMS for Sundays and public holidays.
  • Counseling and motivating the staff.
  • Solving interdepartmental conflicts.
  • Act as a role model to enhance the professional nursing image and act as an advocate for staff and customers.


5] REPORTING AND RECORDING:

  • Collecting census in each shift and sending e-mail to management and administrative head.
  • Reporting emergency surgeries, procedures and death.
  • Reporting sentinel events.
  • Reporting DAMA with reason to Clinical Administration department.
  • Recording the total number of nursing personnel and HCA in each shift.
  • Maintaining double duty records in each shift.
  • Maintaining records of foreigners admitted to the hospital and informing the security at

the time of discharge.

  • Recording and reporting of average daily census.
  • Recording of departmental census.
  • Maintain the records of staffs attending A & E department.
  • Recording and distribution of appraisal forms and confirmation letters.
  • Reporting fever cases.
  • Reporting VIP patients and problematic patients.
