JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- To admit and discharge the patients as per laid down standard procedures.
- To deliver total patient care to all patients’ assigned to her/him.
- To maintain personal hygiene and comforts of the patient.
- To attend to the nutritional needs of the patient, prepare invalid’s diet and feed.
- To implement and be accountable for maintenance of ward/unit policies and routine requirements.
- To co-ordinate patient care with various health team members.
- To accompany the consultant on doctor’s rounds and implement instructions given. P.T.O
- To perform technical tasks, e.g. administration of prescribed medication, assisting doctors in various medical and surgical procedures, recording vital signs, tube feeding, administer enema, bowel wash, dressings, stomach wash, eye and ear care, collection and dispatching of samples, pre and post operative care.
- Assist in administration of transfusion, perineal care, breast care, and baby care.
- To maintain intake and output chart.
- To observe change in patient’s condition and record the same, take necessary action and report to the concerned authority without any delay and keep Nursing In-charge/Nursing Superintendent informed.
- To impart health education to the patient and his/her family.
- To accompany all patients sent to other departments or transferred and remain with patient till she is relieved by authorized personnel.
- To hand and take over the patient and ward equipment supplies.
- To keep the ward neat and tidy as per laid down standards.
- To maintain safety of the ward/unit equipment.
- To prepare and check ward/unit supplies.
- To assist supervisor/nursing in-charge in ward/unit management and officiate in her/his absence and assist in taking inventories.
- To supervise junior nursing personnel working with her/him.
- To maintain accurate ward records and reports assigned to her/him by the nursing in charge.
- To work in shifts on a rotation basis round the clock.
- To adhere to all standards of quality as required by the organization including effective implementation of infection control policies and disposal of biomedical waste.
- To record all breakages, spillage, avoidable wastage of any supply, unusual events and occurrences during her/his shift and inform the reporting authority immediately.
