Newborn Care: Provide specialized nursing care to premature or critically ill newborns, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing life-support equipment.
Patient Monitoring: Continuously assess and monitor infants' health status, including heart rate, respiratory function, oxygen levels, and overall well-being, ensuring immediate intervention when necessary.
Administering Treatments: Perform complex medical procedures, such as intravenous therapy, blood transfusions, and tube feedings, ensuring accurate medication dosages and care protocols are followed.
Parental Support and Education: Provide emotional support and guidance to parents, helping them understand their infant’s condition, treatment plan, and how to care for their newborn after discharge.
Collaboration with Medical Team: Work closely with neonatologists, pediatricians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to create and implement care plans tailored to each infant’s needs.
Maintaining Equipment and Sterility: Ensure the NICU environment remains sterile and that all life-support equipment, such as incubators, ventilators, and monitors, are functioning correctly and safely.
Documentation and Record Keeping: Accurately document the infant’s condition, treatments, progress, and any changes in health status in medical records to ensure seamless communication across the care team.
Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond swiftly to emergencies, such as respiratory distress, cardiac arrest, or other life-threatening conditions, performing neonatal resuscitation when required.
