Description

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Medical Records Department, including the organization, maintenance, and security of medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Develop and implement policies, procedures, and protocols for the management of medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, state laws, and other applicable standards.
Supervise and lead a team of medical records professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance management to ensure departmental goals are met.
Coordinate the intake, indexing, coding, scanning, and storage of medical records, both in paper and electronic formats, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
Ensure the timely and accurate release of medical records to authorized individuals and entities, in compliance with patient privacy and confidentiality regulations.
Conduct regular audits and quality checks of medical records to identify discrepancies, errors, or deficiencies, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrative staff, IT personnel, and other departments to streamline medical records processes, integrate systems, and improve efficiency.
Stay informed about changes in medical records technology, regulations, and best practices, and make recommendations for updates or improvements to departmental procedures and systems.
Serve as a resource and subject matter expert on medical records management issues, providing guidance and support to staff and stakeholders as needed.
Respond to inquiries, requests, and complaints related to medical records in a timely and professional manner, resolving issues and ensuring customer satisfaction.
