Description
- Radiologists are medical doctors that specialize in diagnosing and treating injuries and diseases using medical imaging (radiology) procedures (exams/tests) such as X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET) and ultrasound.
- Listen to audio recordings of medical dictations, including physician notes, consultations, and patient histories, and transcribe them into written reports using word processing software.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and clarity in transcribed medical reports by verifying medical terminology, grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Identify and correct errors, inconsistencies, and discrepancies in transcribed documents to maintain high-quality standards and compliance with departmental guidelines.
- Translate medical abbreviations and acronyms into their full forms and expand upon unclear or ambiguous dictations through research and consultation with healthcare professionals.
- Format transcribed documents according to established transcription guidelines, templates, and formatting standards, ensuring consistency and readability.
- Prioritize transcription tasks based on urgency, turnaround times, and departmental priorities to meet deadlines and productivity targets.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of patient information by adhering to HIPAA regulations and organizational policies governing the handling and disclosure of protected health information (PHI).
