Description

  • Perform rapid and accurate medical assessments of patients presenting to the emergency department, including history-taking, physical examination, and diagnostic evaluation.
  • Prioritize patient care based on the severity of their condition, initiating appropriate interventions and treatments in a timely manner.
  • Manage a wide range of medical and surgical emergencies, including but not limited to trauma, cardiac emergencies, respiratory distress, neurological emergencies, and pediatric emergencies.
  • Perform and assist with medical procedures commonly performed in the emergency department, such as venous access (IV placement), arterial blood gas sampling, endotracheal intubation, chest tube insertion, wound management, and fracture immobilization.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging studies, including electrocardiograms (ECGs), X-rays, CT scans, and laboratory tests, to aid in the diagnosis and management of patients.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including nurses, paramedics, specialists, and support staff, to provide coordinated and comprehensive care to patients.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery and promote evidence-based practice.
  • Adhere to established clinical protocols, guidelines, and standards of care, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
  • Provide clear and concise communication to patients, their families, and other healthcare providers regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis, ensuring informed decision-making and continuity of care.
  • Engage in continuous learning and professional development activities to stay abreast of advances in emergency medicine and maintain clinical competence.
