Description

Mammography technologists operate a mammography unit to produce images of the breasts for diagnostic purposes under the direction of a physician.
They explain the procedure to patients, position and immobilize the patient's breast in the unit, and observe the scanning process.
Perform mammography examinations using digital mammography equipment to produce high-quality images of breast tissue for screening and diagnostic purposes.
Position patients accurately and comfortably for mammography imaging, ensuring optimal image quality and patient safety.
Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare providers to obtain diagnostic images and assist in the interpretation of mammographic findings.
Provide support and reassurance to patients undergoing mammography examinations, addressing their questions, concerns, and anxieties.
Assist in the performance of breast imaging procedures, including ultrasound-guided breast biopsies, stereotactic biopsies, and breast MRI.
Ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols and regulations governing mammography imaging, including proper use of shielding and radiation exposure monitoring.
