Description

  • Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures, including specimen collection, sample processing, and analysis of blood, urine, body fluids, and other biological samples, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, including centrifuges, microscopes, analysers, and other specialized equipment, ensuring proper calibration, cleanliness, and functionality.
  • Prepare reagents, solutions, and media required for laboratory testing, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety guidelines to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Perform quality control checks and participate in proficiency testing programs to ensure the accuracy, precision, and reliability of laboratory test results, documenting any deviations or discrepancies and taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Record and maintain accurate and detailed records of laboratory test results, including patient information, test methods, and quality control data, in electronic medical records (EMR) systems or laboratory information systems (LIS).
  • Communicate test results, findings, and interpretations to healthcare providers, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team in a timely and professional manner, ensuring proper documentation and follow-up as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, including universal precautions, biohazard waste disposal, and chemical safety guidelines, to maintain a safe and compliant laboratory environment.
  • Assist in inventory management, including ordering and stocking laboratory supplies, reagents, and consumables, and maintaining appropriate levels of inventory to support laboratory operations.
  • Participate in continuous education and professional development activities, including training programs, workshops, and seminars, to stay abreast of advances in laboratory technology, methods, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with laboratory supervisors, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to troubleshoot technical issues, implement process improvements, and ensure the efficient and effective operation of the laboratory.
