Description

Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests and procedures according to standard operating procedures (SOPs), including sample collection, preparation, analysis, and interpretation of results.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation, including microscopes, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and automated analyzers, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting as needed.
Prepare reagents, solutions, and culture media, following established protocols and quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and validity of test results.
Follow laboratory safety protocols and practices to minimize risks of exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and biohazards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines.
Document and maintain accurate records of test results, patient information, quality control data, and laboratory inventory using laboratory information systems (LIS) or electronic laboratory notebooks (ELNs).
Analyze and interpret laboratory data, identify abnormalities or irregularities in test results, and report findings to healthcare providers, pathologists, or other members of the healthcare team in a timely and accurate manner.
Assist in quality control and quality assurance activities, including proficiency testing, internal audits, and participation in laboratory accreditation programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Collaborate with laboratory technologists, supervisors, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate sample processing, share information, and support interdisciplinary teamwork in patient care.
Provide training and guidance to new laboratory personnel, students, or interns, demonstrating laboratory techniques, safety procedures, and quality control practices to ensure competency and adherence to standards.
