Description
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures using imaging modalities such as fluoroscopy, angiography, CT, MRI, and ultrasound to guide catheter-based interventions and other minimally invasive techniques.
- Interpret diagnostic imaging studies accurately and effectively to plan and execute interventional procedures, including angiograms, CT scans, MRI scans, ultrasound, and nuclear medicine scans.
- Provide patient-centered care throughout the interventional radiology process, including pre-procedural assessment, procedure explanation, informed consent, procedural sedation, and post-procedural monitoring and follow-up.
- Collaborate with referring physicians, surgeons, oncologists, nurses, and other specialists to coordinate patient care, discuss treatment plans, and optimize treatment outcomes for patients undergoing interventional radiology procedures.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and tumor boards to discuss complex cases, review imaging findings, and develop comprehensive treatment strategies for patients with oncologic, vascular, and other diseases.
- Maintain accurate and complete medical records, procedural documentation, and coding for interventional radiology procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, billing standards, and institutional policies.
- Demonstrate proficiency in vascular access techniques, including arterial puncture, venous access, sheath placement, and catheter manipulation, to perform vascular interventions safely and effectively.
- Monitor and manage patient safety during interventional procedures, including recognition and management of procedural complications, adverse reactions, and emergency situations.
