Description

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU), including those with respiratory failure, septic shock, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).
  • Provide expert consultation and management for a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, collaborating closely with ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and outcomes.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures, such as arterial blood gas analysis, echocardiography, and bedside ultrasound, to assess patients' hemodynamic status, organ function, and response to treatment.
  • Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation, including invasive and non-invasive ventilation modalities, and provide advanced ventilator management to optimize oxygenation and ventilation in critically ill patients.
  • Perform critical care procedures, including central venous catheterization, arterial line placement, endotracheal intubation, and bronchoscopy, as needed to support patient care goals and treatment plans.
  • Lead daily rounds and interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress, treatment plans, and discharge readiness, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Provide education and mentorship to residents, fellows, and medical students rotating through the ICU, and participate in academic and research activities to contribute to the advancement of critical care knowledge and practice.
  • Adhere to evidence-based guidelines, clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, outcomes, and the overall delivery of critical care services in the ICU.
