Description
- Coordinate and supervise daily activities in the operating theater, including patient scheduling, staffing assignments, and resource allocation to optimize workflow and patient throughput.
- Provide leadership and direction to the OT nursing staff, including staff scheduling, performance management, and professional development initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements in the operating room environment.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team to plan and implement perioperative care plans, ensuring optimal patient outcomes.
- Assist in the preparation of operating rooms, ensuring availability of necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies for surgical procedures.
- Oversee the perioperative nursing care process, including patient assessment, preoperative preparation, intraoperative monitoring, and postoperative recovery.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique, sterile field integrity, and patient safety throughout surgical procedures, addressing any deviations or concerns promptly.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between members of the surgical team, ensuring effective interdisciplinary communication and coordination of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, performance improvement projects, and risk management activities to enhance patient safety and surgical outcomes.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to OT nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and education on best practices in perioperative nursing care.
