Description
- Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to ICU nursing staff, including registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and nursing assistants, fostering a positive work environment and promoting professional growth and development.
- Assign and delegate nursing tasks and responsibilities based on staff competencies, patient acuity, and workload, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and equitable distribution of workload among team members.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, performance evaluations, and one-on-one coaching sessions to provide feedback, recognize achievements, address concerns, and support staff development and retention.
- Participate in nurse recruitment, hiring, orientation, and training activities, assisting with onboarding new hires and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
- Oversee the delivery of patient care within the ICU, ensuring adherence to evidence-based practice, nursing standards, and protocols for critical care management.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, including physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, to coordinate patient care, develop treatment plans, and monitor patient progress.
- Conduct regular patient rounds to assess patient acuity, monitor clinical status, and address immediate care needs, collaborating with staff to prioritize interventions and ensure timely and appropriate patient care.
- Provide clinical support and expertise to ICU staff, assisting with complex patient cases, clinical assessments, and interventions, and serving as a resource for clinical questions and concerns.
