Description
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients admitted to the ICU, including those with sepsis, respiratory failure, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS).
- Perform and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures, including arterial blood gas analysis, hemodynamic monitoring, echocardiography, and bedside ultrasound, to assess patients' clinical status and guide treatment.
- Initiate and manage mechanical ventilation, including invasive and non-invasive modalities, and provide advanced ventilator management to optimize oxygenation and ventilation in critically ill patients.
- Perform critical care procedures, such as central venous catheterization, arterial line placement, endotracheal intubation, and bronchoscopy, as needed to support patient care goals and treatment plans.
- Lead daily multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with nurses, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans and goals.
- Provide education, guidance, and mentorship to residents, fellows, and medical students rotating through the ICU, and participate in academic and research activities to advance critical care knowledge and practice.
- Adhere to evidence-based guidelines, clinical protocols, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety, outcomes, and the overall delivery of critical care services in the ICU.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to provide updates on patients' conditions, discuss treatment options, and address their concerns with empathy and compassion.
