Description
- Prepare and process tissue samples for examination under a microscope by performing tissue fixation, embedding, and sectioning.
- Assist in staining tissue samples using various techniques, including hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining and special stains, to aid in diagnosis.
- Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, such as microtomes, cryostats, and tissue processors, ensuring they are clean and functioning properly.
- Ensure proper labeling, storage, and documentation of tissue samples to maintain the integrity of patient records and samples.
- Assist pathologists in examining prepared slides, identifying tissue structures, and marking areas for further examination.
- Follow strict protocols for handling hazardous chemicals and biological specimens, ensuring safety and adherence to health regulations.
- Keep accurate records of all histopathological procedures performed, including any deviations or special techniques used.
- Maintain laboratory inventory, ordering reagents, chemicals, and consumables as required, and ensuring supplies are stocked.
- Collaborate with other medical staff to ensure timely and accurate reporting of results to healthcare professionals.
