  • Their duties encompass a wide range of tasks, including diagnosing and treating reproductive health conditions, performing routine check-ups and screenings, providing reproductive counseling, and managing pregnancy and childbirth. 

    Key responsibilities:
     
  • Diagnosing and treating reproductive health conditions: This includes conditions like infertility, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and pelvic pain, as well as STIs, cervical, uterine, and ovarian cancers. 
  • Providing preventive care: This includes Pap tests, cancer screenings, and vaccinations. 
  • Conducting physical exams: Gynecologists perform pelvic, breast, and external genital exams. 
  • Counseling on family planning and reproductive health: This includes guidance on birth control, fertility, and pregnancy planning. 
  • Managing pregnancies and childbirth: OB-GYNs provide prenatal care, deliver babies, and provide postpartum care.
